EMPOWER EMPLOYMENT

Working Towards Success

Our goal is to help men and women build sustainable futures by empowering them to discover their “future story”—a vision of stability, purpose, and contribution. Many of the individuals we serve have a strong desire to use their talents to support their families and give back to their community.

Through Schenectady Works, City Mission’s job training and employment support program, we provide the tools and encouragement they need to overcome barriers and succeed in the workplace. From reading and writing assistance to computer classes, resume support, interview coaching, and on-the-job training, our dedicated staff and volunteers walk alongside each person every step of the way.

Together, we’re helping hard-working individuals not only find jobs—but build meaningful, lasting careers.

RESOURCE CENTER

Located at 313 Clinton Street on City Mission’s main campus, the Resource Center is part of our Schenectady Works initiative. It provides critical support to men and women living at City Mission as they work to transition out of poverty and build a foundation for long-term success.

Through one-on-one guidance, practical resources, and connections to employment services, the Resource Center helps individuals take meaningful steps toward workforce readiness and independence. From completing a GED to identifying marketable job skills to learning how to apply for jobs online, the Center equips each person with the tools and confidence they need to pursue living-wage employment and sustainable change.

At the Resource Center, we believe that work is more than a paycheck—it’s a path to dignity, purpose, and transformation.
